Today someone asked me what was going on with the strip...I think most of you probably already know this, but I'm not updating the strip everyday anymore. I stopped for a couple of reasons. When I started this little project, the goal was to get 20-24 strips ready to try and send off to the major syndicates (something I've never tried before) and I soon found out that I had a ton of material! I was getting some great feedback from co-workers and other cartoonists I respect and to date I now have 62 strips and I stuck with it (without missing a day) for nearly 2 and half months!! I would like to collect these comics at a later date, perhaps in color? But the main reason it's slowed down is because I wanted to get back to work on "This Is How We Met". I want to devote more time to it and get it right. That doesn't mean I won't be sharing pages or posting rare doodles everyday or every other day....it just means I don't have the whole "I have to do it" mindset...but I tell ya what...it sure is harder than it looks....how in the world Charles Schulz did it every single day for 50 years is beyond me....but it takes time to build a "character" I guess?...you know, one that's worthwhile :)
and yes...I will show you what Tony's running from....

Ninjampony

A few weeks ago my son and I made this tiny comic book (2" x 2") called Ninjampony! It's a short comic involving Tony as a ninja character that fights Cowboy Ducks, Cats with Fat swords and even a Ninja Turtle! Course we'd have to leave him out if we ever printed these...but it was a ton of fun to make and he took it school so now some of the other kids want a ninja book too. I plan to color this pic later and might even have Tony quit his job as an Office Furniture Salesman to become...a freelance ninja! Sweet! Maybe someone rival company kidnaps Rob and Tony has to become a ninja and stuff? Maybe Nippy does the kidnapping? Maybe the first 3 issues of Nippy Wallaboosh really features a Clone? hmmm....

Goodbye 2006...

Well, I thought I'd better be updating and stuff, you know...prepping for 2007. And I also wanted to show off some more Eric Merced artwork! He colored the Nippy pic you see now. Speaking of Nippy I am contemplating switching gears and doing some Nippy strips....after talking with a book distributor regarding More Than Sparrows, I have decided to make "This Is How We Met" a children's book. I think it will be a better format for this particular story and I may have an easier time getting it into bookstores? So, I have some redrawing to do! But the story is written and it's just one of those true tales that must be told. Look for it in the Spring time Lord Willing. Brokenpony (dot) com is going bye bye in Feb. I'll still have the old bloggy blog and all of my new stuff will be on the Blindwolf Studios site. Oh Blindwolf news - Franco and I are collaborating on something NEW and EXCITING and COOL! Seriously, you're gonna freak when you see it! I'll tell more later....
